Duplicant survival
Duplicants are the center of the base. Buildings, tools, food, and pipes all exist to keep them safe and productive. If they often starve, overheat, run out of breath, or waste time walking, the base layout is usually the problem.

Risk boundaries
Do not let duplicants stay too long in unknown space. Prepare lighting, return routes, and the right equipment before pushing outward.
